Hyderabad: Telangana Legislature Committee on BC Welfare on Wednesday called on Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu seeking his intervention for establishment of a separate ministry in the Central Government for BC Welfare.
Committee chairman V. Gangadhar Goud, Govt Chief Whip in Council P. Sudhakar Reddy, MLAs Vithal Reddy and R. Krishnaiah submitted a memorandum to the Vice President in this regard.
They urged that the Central Government establish a ministry for welfare of Backward Classes. Gangadhar Goud informed that the Telangana Goud has increased the budget for BC Welfare. Similarly, he said that the Central Government should enhance the budget in proportionate to the population.
The Committee members also asked Vice President for categorisation of BCs. They also highlighted various schemes being implemented by the State Government for the welfare of backward classes communities. (INN)
