MANUU to hold seminar on Gender and Development

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University in collaboration with Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, is organizing Two Day Seminar “Re-thinking Empowerment: Gender and Development in India” on September 19 and 20.

Inaugural function of the seminar will be held on 19th September at 10:30 a.m at Saiyid Hamid Library Auditorium.

According to Prof. Shahida Murtaza, Coordinator Seminar, Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, will preside over the session. Prof. Susheela Kaushik, Eminent Social Scientist will be the Chief Guest and Prof. D. Usha Rani, Director, CWS, S.V. University, Tirupati, the Guest of Honour.

Panel Discussion on ‘Women Empowerment: The Way Forward’ will start from 4.00 p.m. on September 19. “Sham-e-Ghazal” programme will be presented by eminent ghazal singer Mr. Sabir Habeeb on September 19 at 6.00 p.m. at DDE Auditorium. Mohd. Sardar Khan will accompany him on Tabla and Dr. Sanjay Kingi on Sitar.

Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Registrar will preside over the valedictory session on 20th September. Ms. Nalini Raghuraman, Political Economy Advisor, British Deputy High Commission, Hyderabad, will be the chief guest. Prof. U. Vindhya, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad will give valedictory address. (INN)
