Hyderabad: Union Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Ramesh Jigajinagi has described the Mission Bhagiratha as the role model for entire country in providing drinking water to all households.
The Union Minister was speaking at a meeting held in the city on Saturday to review the drinking water and sanitation schemes.
Rural Water Supply Department’s Engineer-in-Chief Surender Reddy gave a power-point presentation on Mission Bhagiratha and explained the scheme through videos and pictures.
Jigajinagi said that the no other State in the country has so far tried to implement a scheme which could provide safe drinking water to all households.
He said he would conduct a detailed review of the scheme after the end of monsoon session of Parliament session. He said it was heartening to note that the major part of the scheme was based on supplying water using gravity.
The Union Minister also expressed happiness over construction of over 10,000 individual toilets in the State. He said Telangana was among the top States in implementing Swachh Bharat scheme. He assured that the Central Government would extend all possible help to Telangana State in its developmental programme. (INN)
