The election took place in the first meeting of Wakf Board held at Haj House on Friday. Except Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and IPS officer Tafseer Iqbal, remaining nine members attended the meeting.
Saleem’s candidature for Chairman’s post was proposed by Malik Motasim Khan and Anwar Baig and the same was approved by other members.
Speaking to media persons later, Saleem announced that he would not draw any salary, TA, DA or other allowances from the Wakf Board. He said he got the opportunity to serve as Wakf Board chairman for the second time and he would try his best to protect and develop Wakf properties in the State.
Further, he said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was in favour of giving judicial powers to Wakf Board to deal with encroachments. He said efforts would be made to get judicial powers for the board.
Wakf Board member Syed Akbar Nizamuddin said that the constitution of Wakf Board was delayed by almost two years due to some legal complications. He said that the new Wakf Board would do justice with Mutawallis (caretakers) of the Wakf properties.
Wakf Board CEO Asauddullah and other members of the Wakf Board were also present on the occasion. (INN)
