Hyderabad: Sending a strong message to all the Divisional Railway Manager’s and Principal Heads of Departments that safety is the top most priority for rail operations, South Central Railway General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav called upon them to imbibe a zero tolerance policy for any lapse on this issue.
He was addressing a Video Conference of Divisional Railway Manager’s of all six divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded from Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Monday. Principal Heads of Departments were also present in the conference.
The General Manager in his address spelt out that, in addition to Safety, the other core areas of priority are Punctuality, Earnings, Project execution, Public grievances and Staff welfare.
He emphasized on track maintenance as vital to safety and advised officials to intensify checks and inspections to negate any failure.
He advised officials to put in their best generate earnings in the last quarter of the current fiscal and added that non fare revenue sources shall also be tapped.
Sharing the thinking of Union Minister for Railways, the General Manager wanted the Engineering departments to achieve the targets set for this year in terms of execution of projects, without any scope for delay.
Opining that team work is of essence, he instructed all the departments to work in co-ordination so as to attain positive results. He wanted proper utilization of assets and also encouraged officials to come out with innovations towards bettering performance results.
He also advised everyone on the need to monitor public grievances on real time basis, on account of the fact that social media has come to the fore in the present times.
Earlier today, the General Manager also held a meeting on safety to take stock of SCR’s performance in this aspect and suggested various measures towards attaining an accident free record.
This was followed by a meeting to review progress of project works on SCR and plan for completion of all the works targeted for the current financial year, wherein Vinod Kumar Yadav clearly conveyed that their shall be no let up or any delay.
