Hyderabad: Open Government Data (OGD) Platform India of National Informatics Centre (NIC), in association with Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and Government of Telangana’s Open Data initiative, is organizing the “#OpenGovDataHack” for Students, Entrepreneurs, Innovators, Start-ups, Developers and Community to create unique and innovative service delivery Applications and Info-Graphics to foster innovation.
The #OpenGovDataHack aims to Support and Showcase potentially great Ideas/talent from across Telangana by, helping them making their ideas developed to Apps/Infographics primarily by use of Open Government Data around the themes of Water & Sanitation, Transport, Education, Crime and Health.
Selected Apps at Hyderabad will be eligible for mentoring and a national challenge. The total final prize money will be more than Rs. 5 lakhs.
JNTU Hyderabad is the academic and Venue partner for the Hackathon. #OpenGovDataHack Hyderabad is scheduled on 4th and 5th November at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
A Pre-Hackathon Brainstorming session was held in JNTU Hyderabad on Monday. ITE&C Department Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan addressed the gathering and explained about the Government of Telangana’s initiative to open up data.
He also called upon students and other participants to get first-hand experience of Open Data by participating in the Hackathon. He also announced that selected participants will get an opportunity to present their ideas to the government.
Speaking on the occasion, JNTU Vice-Chancellor Dr. A Venugopal Reddy asked the students to make use of the innovation hub being established in JNTU.
Dileep Konatham, Director of Digital Media spoke about the various initiatives being undertaken under the ‘Open Data Initiative’ of Government of Telangana. Sunil Babbar of NIC explained the hackathon in detail and also about the Open Data Platform of Government of India. (INN)
