Warangal : Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said that the afforestation drive Harita Haram would solve the drought condition in the state.
Srihari along with Speaker Madhusudhana Chary took part in the green drive and planted saplings here on Thursday.
Speaking to media, the Deputy CM said that Harita Haram was one of the biggest programmes undertaken across the world. He said that the green drive had long term benefits and would solve to a great extend the issue of drought conditions in the state.
With regard to the protests against the Mallannasagar project by the Opposition parties, the Deputy CM brushed aside the allegations that the project was being forced on the farmers and so was their land being acquired. He termed the opposition to the project a sheer tactic to derive political mileage.
The Opposition parties are against the project only because they do not want the TRS to work for the development. They are unable to digest the fact that the there is government committed for the welfare of the farmers and is continuously working and hence all this protests, Srihari remarked.
He warned that the Opposition parties would face the ire of the people of the state if they do not give up the opportunistic politics. (INN)
