Opposition parties will wage united fight against Nerella incident: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that entire opposition would wage a united battle against the TRS Government for police atrocities on Dalits, STs and others in Rajanna-Sircilla district.

Addressing the Round Table Conference on “Atrocities and attacks on Dalits” organised by SC Department of TPCC at Somajiguda Press Club on Thursday, Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that an All Party delegation would call on DGP Anurag Sharma on Friday to ask as to why no FIR was issued under SC,

ST Atrocities Act when victims of Sircilla incident lodged a complaint before the DSP Sircilla. He said all guilty cops should be suspended and booked under serious charges.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that an all-party delegation would also call on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan against the anti-Dalit actions of TRS Government. It was also decided to conduct a photo exhibition on the incident.

A demonstration will also be organised at the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue to protest against the rising atrocities on Dalits under the rule of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

He also informed that the all-party delegation would also meet President of India Ram Nath Kovind on August 21st or 22nd to submit a representation on anti-SC, ST, BC moves of KCR Govt. The all-party delegation would also give representations to National Human Rights Commission and National Commissions for SCs and STs.

The TPCC chief also proposed that all-party Padayatra and public meeting would be held at Sircilla if justice is not done to the victims.

Uttam Kumar Reddy, in his speech, said that KCR lost respect after he made some highly objectionable remarks against former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. He reminded that as the then Speaker, it was Meira Kumar who played the key role in passing Telangana Bill in the Lok Sabha.

“Today KCR is enjoying a lavish lifestyle as the Chief Minister of Telangana primarily due to the role played by Meira Kumar in the Lok Sabha. She came all the way from Delhi and visited Karimnagar Jail only to meet the Dalits who were subjected to brutal third-degree torture.

However, KCR ridiculed her visit and even forgot that she is the daughter of Babu Jagjivan Ram. KCR’s attitude brought shame for entire Telangana society and he must be condemned for the same,” he said.

The TPCC Chief alleged that KCR family was directly responsible for the Sircilla incident. “Who gave the instructions to police not to stop the movement of vehicles belonging to sand mafia? As the local MLA, Minister K. Tarakarama Rao is hand-in-glove with the sand mafia.

It is impossible that he was totally ignorant of activities going on in his own constituency,” he said. Stating that the Chief Minister has lost moral grounds to continue on his position, he said the time has come to crush the arrogance of KCR family. “Telangana is not the Jagir of KCR family.

We did not form a separate State to unleash terror on Dalits, Girijans, BCs, minorities or other weaker sections. Unitedly, we must fight to get justice for the victims,” he said.

Telangana TDP Working President A. Revanth Reddy alleged that KTR himself was acting like Don of Sand Mafia and therefore, no action is being taken against those responsible for the Nerella incident. TDP leader M. Narasimhulu demanded that the victims be paid a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh and a government job should be given to their family.

Telangana JAC Chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram described the Nerella incident as a blot on the face of entire humanity. He said that the sand mafia was plying terror in all villages of Sircilla district in the shape of their lorries. He said many people lost their lives while others got injured due to illegal movement of lorries.

He condemned the police for not acting on several complaints and protests lodged by the opposition parties.

The meeting was also addressed by TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, SC Department chairman Arepally Mohan, Chinta Samba Murthy of BJP, B. Mallesh of CPI (M), Prof. Visveswaraiah of Aam Aadmi Party, ex-minister Sudddala Devaiah, AICC SC Department Convener Dr. Prasad, K.K. Mahender Reddy and other leaders. (INN)
