Osmania University to offer dual degree courses

Hyderabad: Osmania University will start offering dual degree courses in partnership with the University of Missouri, St Louis (UM) as early as this June.

OU Vice Chancellor Prof. S. Ramachandram had an early morning video conference today with UMSL officials to firm up the subjects that will be part of the programme.

Stating that it is a historic moment for the Osmania University, the Vice chancellor listed the courses which include: MS Chemistry – Integrated Course (3+2), 3 Years in OU and 2 years in UM; MS Computer Science- B tech. (4+1), 4 years in OU and 1 year in UM ; MA Communication – (1+1), 1 year in OU and 1 Year in UM and MBA – (1+1), 1 year in OU and 1 Year in UM

The conference is a follow-up to a meeting the Vice Chancellor had with the officials of the University of Missouri on 19 May 2017. Forty students, 10 each from the four courses will get an opportunity to study in Missouri University. Osmania University is working on the modalities.

UMSL is also interested in bringing its courses in criminology and criminal justice and in optometry to Osmania. UMSL currently has partnership with about 75 universities located in roughly 50 countries. Most are student-exchange relationships, some more active than others.

The Deepak Vyas Foundation will partially fund the students and is also keen on setting up an Endowment fund

Thomas F George, Vice Chancellor of University of Missouri-St. Louis, Ms. Neeta Bhushan Consul General of India – Chicago, Mr. Joel N Glassman, Director International Studies and Programs, Missouri University and Mr. Deepak Kant Vyas, Indian American Business Entrepreneur participated in the video conference and congratulated and thanked the Government of India and Government of Telangana for the support to launch the programs in Osmania University.

Dr. Srinivasulu, IQAC Coordinator, and Prof. K. Narender, Director, EMMRC were also present. (INN)
