Hyderabad: Osmania University Teachers Association on Thursday demanded the state government to take steps to protect the varsity land which is being illegally encroached.
Speaking to media, OUTA president Prof. Satyanarayana said that the varsity which had over 2,000 acres of land has now shrunk to 1600 acres due to rampant encroachments.
He said that the state government should immediately take steps to make the varsity free of illegal encroachments.
Prof Satyanarayana said that the varsity was the pride of Telangana and as an epic centre of the statehood movement.
The varsity serves as centre of higher learning for generations and it was sad that there have been rampant encroachments of varsity lands.
The varsity is celebrated centenary celebrations next year and the government is making massive arrangements to mark the year long celebrations. (INN)
