Hyderabad: The Holy Month of Ramzan has begun in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other parts of the country from Friday night as the crescent was sighted in many parts of the country.

The Central Ruiyat-e-Hilal Committee announced that the Holy Month of Ramzaan has begun on Friday and the first Roza or fasting will be observed on April 25.

Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Deccan president Syed Mohammed Qubul Pasha Quadri Shuttari and Jamia Nizamia Vice-Chancellor Moulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed gave the official declaration after the religious Ulema (learned men) met at Khankha-e-Shattariya, Dabeerpura on Friday evening.

The committee said that the moon was not sighted in Hyderabad due to cloudy weather. However, there were confirmed reports of sighting of crescent from Karimnagar, Vijayawada, Guntur, Jharkhand, Bihar, Maharashtra and other areas.

The religious leaders have appealed to the Muslims to pray at their house and do not visit the mosque in view of lockdown to combat the Coronavirus. (INN)
