Hyderabad: For the next 24 hours, the Indian Meteorological Department ( IMD) has been warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

In isolated locations in the districts of Pedapale, Siddipet, Jangaon, JayashankarBhupalapalle, Mulugu, Karimnagar, Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Mahabubabad, BhadradriKothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, YadadriBhuvnagiria, and Suryapet, IMD predicted extremely heavy rainfall. It also warned the remaining districts of Telangana of heavy to very heavy rain in isolated locations.

IMD said that in low lying areas, water logging can occur. There is also a possibility of the uprooting of trees and electric poles that can impact the power supply.

At vulnerable areas, GHMC has stationed monsoon emergency teams. In case of emergencies, GHMC has directed the officials to recognise shelters to move affected. The GHMC demanded that officials ensure that transport facilities are available to evacuate the population from potential flooding.

GHMC has issued a total of 1377 rain-related grievances since October 9. By 9 am, 33 complaints were received by the municipal body.

The highest rainfall of 73.3 mm was recorded at Vemsoor Mandal in Khammam district, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society. Abdullapurmet had the highest rain of 17.3 mm in the city before 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Remnants of the present Depression are likely to emerge about 15 October 2020 as a low-pressure area over the East-central & adjacent Northeast Arabian Sea off the north coast of Konkan-south Gujarat.

IMD weather inference said that the cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka & neighbourhood extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked. (INN)
