Hyderabad: A Panther, which was trapped in a snare at Rajapeta Thanda village of Marriguda Mandal, Nalgonda district, died of injuries after he was rescued by a team of Nehru Zoological Park on Thursday.
On receipt of information from the Divisional Forest Officer, Nalgonda that a Panther got trapped in the snare kept by farmers for trapping the wild board, a team headed by Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Dr. Asadullah was rushed to the spot on Thursday morning.
The seven-year-old Panther was rescued safely by way of chemical immobilization. However, the Panther died on the way while being shifted to Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.
The Post Mortem was conducted by Veterinary Experts Dr. M.A Hakeem, Dy. Director (Vet), Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, Dr. M. Navin Kumar, Dy. Director (Retd), Consultant Zoo Park, Dr. Shambulingam, Asst. Director (Vet), Zoo Park and Dr.Kotinagu, VBRI. The team of doctors has certified that the cause of death is due to internal haemorrhages, shock and “Asphyxia”. All the samples were collected and sent to VBRI, Shantinagar for detailed investigation. (INN)
