Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has received the gold award for its energy conservation projects in the Telangana State Energy Conservation Awards 2020 (TSECA).
The annual forum of the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation ltd. (TSREDC) acknowledged businesses participating in energy conservation initiatives that in their everyday operations follow best practices and technical innovation. The jury judged the participants on many criteria and followed a creative thinking method.
Over the last three years, energy efficiency programs at Hyderabad airport have led to significant energy savings, which have also led to a rapid decline in the airport’s greenhouse gas emissions.
It is worth noting that Hyderabad International Airport is also a carbon-neutral airport and under its airport carbon accreditation (ACA) scheme, has level 3+ ‘neutrality’ accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI).
The award presented by D. was received by senior Hyderabad officials. On the last day (20 December) of the energy conservation week celebrations at the Dr. MCRHRD Institute of Telangana, Hyderabad, Prabhakar Rao, the CMD of Telangana Transco and Genco, and Sandeep Kumar Sultania, the Secretary (PR&RD).
GHIAL has also recently received the prestigious 2020 CII-Green Power Efficiency Excellence Awards in the ‘ground-mounted solar’ category.
In 2019 and 2020, Hyderabad airport won the prestigious “national energy leader award” from CII and has continuously won the excellent energy-efficient trophy at the CII-GBC flagship energy management program-National Award for Excellence in Energy Management since 2017. (INN)
