Hyderabad: Telangana Government has offered a Deepavali gift to sanitary workers by increasing their salaries.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday announced enhancement of salaries of sanitation workers from Rs.14,500 to Rs.17,500 recognising their services, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.
Prior to the establishment of Telangana, the salary of sanitary staff was around Rs.8500, and in 2014 the Telangana Government raised it to Rs.12500.
Again, wages for healthcare staff were raised to Rs. 14,500 in 2017 and now, in 2020, the government has raised its salaries to Rs. 17,500.
The Minister also declared that the government will continue to disburse Rs 10,000 to the recent flood victims in Greater Hyderabad for immediate relief.
He called on individuals to register their names and bank account information in MeeSeva centres to avail the benefit. (INN)
