Hyderabad: The nine-day long Swachhta Saptah under the Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat Mission is being carried out from September 17 to 25 actively all over South Central Railway with participation of employees, officers and other voluntary organisations in a big way.
This special outreach programme is intended to spread wider awareness on sanitation and cleanliness in rail premises and make hygiene a habit amongst the travelling public.
The General Manager, South Central Railway including Principal Heads of Departments from Head Quarters Rail Nilayam, Divisional Railway Managers of all six Divisions viz.
Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal, Nanded and all the Branch Officers are energetically participating in the cleanliness drive taking place at stations and in trains.
Various awareness activities held at the station include street plays, cleanliness drives, display of posters and banners spelling the message loud and clear to the travelling public that the Railway was their travelling home.
Anti-littering slogans were also posted at various locations besides, segregated dustbins for garbage were provided and awareness programmes undertaken.
A drive on garbage handling and disposal was also undertaken at railway stations, trains and depots. Tree plantation programmes were also held at various places. (INN)
