Hyderabad: The South Central Railway has registered the top place in performance amongst all the 16 Zones on Indian Railways for the half yearly period from April to September 2017 in the current fiscal.
The attainment is based on analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which have been evaluated in detail and intimated to all the Zones by the Railway Board on Wednesday.
SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav expressed happiness with the achievement of SCR, in the very first instance of analyzing the Key Performance Indicators for all Zones by the Railway Board.
He complimented the workforce of the Zone for the Performance and expressed optimism to achieve and better the targets for the balance months of the current fiscal, as directed by the Chairman, Railway Board.
The Ministry of Railways had come out with a target plan, basing on which Annual Performance Agreements (Memorandum of Understanding) along with target for 2017-18 were signed between General Managers of all Zonal Railways and Secretary, Railway Board.
In this MoU, the General Managers had agreed to achieve the targets set, related to 27 identified parameters called Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
South Central Railway achieved the highest 71.90 % of marks amongst the Sixteen Zones of Indian Railways on all the combined KPI’s. SCR was followed by South Eastern Railway with 69.09 % and Western Railway with 66.29 % at the Second and Third places.
In the Operational and Financial segment of the KPIs, SCR registered Revenue Earnings of Rs. 7717.49 Crore; Originating Passenger Traffic of 192.54 Million and Freight Loading of 48.34 Million Tonnes & Punctuality of Train Services registered, was 95 %.
In the Segment of Capacity Enhancement, which primarily covers Infrastructure development, New Lines have been completed to a length of 40 kms; Electrification of Railway Lines completed to a length of 443 Kilometers; Doubling has been completed to a length of 17 kms; 23 Unmanned Level Crossings have been eliminated and increase in average speed of Freight Trains by 21.10 kms per hour.
Capacity Utilization is another segment of the KPIs which has shown visible increase on SCR. The existing Track length has been replaced (Track Renewal) to a length of 229 kms; Average Diesel Loco Utilization registered as 480 kms and Electric Loco Utilization registered as 429 kms.
Asset Reliability, another vital segment of the KPI, which speaks of quality maintenance standards, has also shown remarkable improvement on SCR.
Rail failures have been brought down to 95 incidents; Diesel Loco failures has been pegged to 60 cases; Electric Loco failure has been pegged to 71 cases and Over Head Equipment Failures have been kept to 2 cases. No accident per million train kms has been recorded on the Zone.
In the aspect of Man Power, increase in training man days per employee and grievance readressal efficiency index has also shown excellent results on SCR. (INN)
