Second phase of rice distribution begins

Hyderabad: Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman M. Srinivas Reddy, GHMC Mayor Dr.Bonthu Rammohan and Khairtabad MLA Danam Nagender launched the second phase of distribution of rice among White Ration Card holders in Srinagar Colony, Punjagutta here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Reddy said the ration would be distributed till month end and there was no need to be panic. He appealed to the people to take ration as per tokens issued by Ration Shop Dealer. He requested the beneficiaries to follow social distance.

Further, he said Rs. 1500 would be deposited in Banks / Post office accounts of the beneficiaries. He said rice worth about Rs.1200 crores was being distributed to the poor. At present Dal is being supplied in some districts and will also be supplied in other districts as and when stock arrives, he said.

GHMC Dr. Bonthu Rammohan said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekher Rao that no one should go hungry due to lock down situation, the State Government was distributing 12 kg free rice to each person and Rs.1500 to each card holder.

If anyone is facing problems, then they should bring it to the notice of the local public representative. He also informed that GHMC was providing free food to about 1.75 lakh needy people daily through Annapurna Centres.
