Hyderabad: The freight loading of South Central Railway has crossed 100 Million Tones by 24th March during the current financial year (2017-18). This is higher by 5.82 Million Tones as compared with the same period in the last financial year.

The enhancement in the loading as compared with last year is majorly due to increase in the loading of Raw Material for Steel plant by 32% ; Imported Iron Ore loading increased by 200%; Cement loading increased by 3% ; Food grains loading increased by 38%, Fertilizers loading increased by 11% and container loading increased by 20%.

The overall loading is 100.122 Million Tones, which is 6.2% higher than last year loading for the same period, according to a SCR release.

The other contributing factors for surpassing the 100 Million Tonnes of freight loading is increased in the loading from Ports (especially Krishapatanm Port); loading of commodities like Coal, Coke, Clinker and Sand from new destinations; agreement with major cement and other companies for loading under various incentive schemes such as Station To Station Rates and Long Term Tariff Contract (LTTC) etc.,

In addition, improved coal loading from Singareni Collieries, Food grains and Fertilizers loading are the major factors for enhancement in the freight loading.
