Special Officers to supervise Covid vaccination programme in Telangana

Hyderabad: The State Government on Tuesday ordered the District Collectors to appoint special officers to supervise the arrangements and administration of COVID-19 vaccines at each designated launch site starting on 16 January for the inoculation drive.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar asked the collectors to ensure the presence, through a network of district officials, of pre-identified beneficiaries.

Somesh Kumar reviewed the arrangements for the launch of the COVID-19 vaccination program during a teleconference with all the district collectors. Officials were told to plan a smaller number of beneficiaries on the first day and to raise the number of beneficiaries thereafter, taking the experience of the first day into account.

He made the collectors aware of the value of the scheme, which will include all healthcare staff from both government and private facilities in the first process.

The Chief Secretary directed the Collectors to ensure, in compliance with the Operational Guidelines, that the necessary arrangements are made at the specified launch sites in their respective districts, including steps to deal with any adverse effects following immunisation.

At each location, they were advised to keep reserve vaccinators. He asked them to seek participation of public representatives at all levels. (INN)
