Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary S.P. Singh has directed the officials to expedite the construction of double bed room houses for weaker sections.
The Chief Secretary held a meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat on Monday to review the status of 2BHK housing scheme.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretaries Ramakrishna (Finance) and Naveen Mittal (Municipal Administration), GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, Director Municipal Administration T.K. Sridevi and other officials of Housing Board and other departments.
Besides double bed room houses, the Chief Secretary also reviewed the status of works on Rajiv Swagruha. He stressed on better coordination among officials and asked them to conduct monthly review meetings while submitting statement on expenditures.
Singh said so far, 268,099 2BHK units have been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 16,715 crore. He said the tender process for 107,367 houses has been completed.
He said the construction was going on at brisk pace in Siddipet, Medchal, Karimnagar and GHMC while it is slow in Jogulamba, Kommaram Bheem, Wanaparthy, Nirmal, Warangal Rural, Viqarabad and Ranga Reddy district. (INN)
