TPCC team to meet EC over deletion of voters

Hyderabad: A team of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Election Coordination Committee, led by Marri Shashidhar Reddy, will meet the Election Commission of India at Nirvachan Sadan, New Delhi on Monday seeking postponement of the schedule for the publication of the Final Electoral Rolls for 83 Rural Assembly Constituencies of the State.

The TPCC team has made the same demand when it met Chief Electoral Officer Anup Singh on February 14.

The committee, during its tour to all the combined districts of Telangana last week, found a lot of lapses in the process of the revision of voter lists everywhere.

Committee Convener G. Niranjan alleged that the ruling TRS party has encouraged illegal deletions in the past and it is being continued even now. Since the 2018 voter list will be adopted for the ensuing Panchayat elections soon, Congress party is determined to fight this to ensure that TRS does not succeed in their attempt, he said.

The delegation will seek postponement of the schedule and strong action against erring officials, Niranjan said. (INN)
