Vijayawada: Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the issue of ‘Triple Talaq’ was not a religious issue.
Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Venkaiah Naidu said that the ‘Triple Talaq’ issue pertains to the self-respect and dignity of women. He said this should not be linked to any religion.
He said that the Government of India has brought several changes in the traditional laws related to Hindus. Therefore, its stand on ‘Triple Talaq’ should not be viewed on communal lines.
Commenting on YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Venkaiah Naidu said there was nothing wrong in a meeting between two friends.
He advised TDP leaders not to drag the issue for political reasons. (INN)
