Hyderabad: TRS MP B. Narasaiah Goud on Tuesday demanded that the Central Government accord National Project status to Kaleswaram project as it has done with Polavaram Project of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons outside Parliament House in Delhi today, the TRS MP thanked the Central Government for giving all clearances and said that the Centre should now give National Project status for the project.
He said that the State Government has overcome several difficulties to begin construction of Kaleshwaram and finally, it got all required approvals.
He said that the completion of Kaleswaram project would give a major boost to agriculture in Telangana while resolving the drinking water problem in 14 districts.
The Bhongir MP also urged the Centre to increase the number of Assembly seats as per the provision made in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Further, he said that the process of bifurcation of High Court and other institutions under Scheduled 9 and 10 should be initiated immediately. (INN)
