TSCHE introduces biometric finger print in all exams, makes PGECET online

Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) introduces biometric finger print during all its examinations this year. It also made PGECET-2016 online.

Press Release: The High Power Committee constituted by TSCHE with members from IIT, Hyd, BITS Pilani, Hyd Conveners of TS EAMCET, TS ICET, TS PGECET-2016 and also officials of TSCHE to study introduction of new initiatives in the conduct of TS CETs-2016 met for the second time on 09.03.2016 and after having detailed discussions on providing 1+1 OMR sheets to the candidates, introduction of biometric system and conduct of online examinations, resolved to implement as follows:

  1. Introduction of 1+1 OMR with a precaution that the original OMR must be collected in the examination center from the candidate after the examination and carbonless carbon copy only must be permitted to be taken by the candidate for all offline exams.

  1. Introduction of biometric finger print during the examination for all TS CETs for the year 2016 in order to prevent impersonation. Further abundant data so collected may be made available with TSCHE. The finger print data may be verified at the time of certificate verification during web counseling for permitting the candidate for admission. Further all the universities may be suggested to obtain the same data for cross verification of the candidates admitted into their university/institution. The same data may be used for fee reimbursement/release of scholarships etc. However, the data may be provided to other agencies by TSCHE with nominal charges.

  1. Introduction of online examination for TS PGECET-2016. In respect of TS EAMCET-2016 AM stream as the total number of applications are expected to be more than one lakh and with the available infrastructure it may be difficult to hold the online examination in a single session to one lakh candidates. Hence the committee recommended that both online and offline (OMR) examinations be implemented for the year in respect of TS EAMCET-2016 AM stream only. The option may be given to candidates to choose between online/offline. The online examination centers shall be at Hyderabad and Warangal only.
