Hyderabad: Telangana State Finance Commission has organized the 1st Orientation Programme for newly elected Chairpersons of Municipal Corporations of the Telangana State in the premises of the Institution of Engineers (India), Khairatabad on Thursday.
About 120 newly elected Chairpersons have attended the day-long programme. The newly elected Chairpersons comprise of Women, Doctors, Engineers, Educationists and senior most politicians.
The programme was aimed at enlightening the newly elected Chairpersons about their role in discharging their duties more effectively.
TSFC Chairman G. Rajesham Goud, TSFC Member M. Chennaiah, CDMA N.Satyanarayana and other senior officials.
In his speech, Rajesham Goud explained in detail about the role of Municipal Chairperson in discharging their duties more effectively. Besides other important issues such as – devolution of funds, clean and green, he emphasized more on drinking water. In this connection, he spoke at length about the invaluable services rendered by Dr. G. Rameshwar Rao, when he was Director, HMWSS in speedy implementation of Major Irrigation Projects / Drinking Water Supply Projects – such as “Mission Bhagiratha, Kaleswara”.
He also recapitulated Dr. Rameshwar Rao’s significant role in bringing Godavari and Krishna waters to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
CDMA Satyanarayana, who joined in the afternoon session, gave inspiring speech to the audience. Satyanarayana, who served in municipal administration for quite a long time, has been brought to this new portfolio a few days back. He urged the newly Municipal Chairperson to work hard and realize the ambitions and aspirations of the people at large.
He explained in detail about the pains taken by the CM and Minister concerned in formulating the guidelines in Municipal Administration. He appealed all the participants to work hand in hand in serving the society.
Dr.Rameshwar Rao, Chairman, the Institution of Engineers (India), Telangana State Centre who spoke on the occasion explained the role of The Institution of Engineers India in shaping the society by effectively using Technology for furtherance of the lives of mankind.
He said that the Institution has introduced 15 Engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Electronics, Environmental Sciences etc. He also explained the Institution of Engineers’ India role in speedy implementation of Mission Bhagiratha, Kaleswaram and Metro Rail Projects.
As a word of advise to the newly elected Chairperson, he said that they must necessarily make visits to Schools, which would stand as testimony in the nation building.
Pankaja, Asst. Director, CDMA’s speech was centered around the duties and responsibilities, generation of revenue etc., by the newly elected Chairperson.
TSFC Member Chennaiah gave brief outlines on the functioning of the Finance Commission. (INN)
