Jogulamba Gadwal: The Congress party formally launched its campaign for next Assembly elections from Alampur of Jogulamba Gadwal district on Thursday.
AICC Telangana Incharge R.C. Khuntia, TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and other senior leaders first went to the Jogulamba Temple to perform special pooja at Jogulamba Temple and then launched the campaign by conducting a road show in Alampur.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy has strongly defended his remarks calling caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao a ‘batte baaz’ (cheater).
He said in Hyderabadi dialect a habitual liar and cheater is called a ‘batte baaz’ and the term perfectly fits for KCR as he has cheated all sections of the society during his four-and-a-half year regime. “Not a single electoral promise has been fulfilled by KCR.
Poor Dalits did not get three acres of land; Homeless people were not given double bed room houses; Promise of 12% quota for STs and Muslims remained unfulfilled; One job for every household proved to be a mirage and all other promises made by KCR proved hollow and fake. For these reasons, I’m calling KCR a ‘batte baaz’ and ‘dhokay baaz’,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said KCR has made tall claims while addressing a public meeting in Nizamabad on Wednesday. He asked KCR to speak on the status of electoral promises which he made in 2014 elections.
He said even KCR won’t be able to deny the fact that none of the promises have been fulfilled. He said the time has come to teach KCR and TRS a fitting lesson in next elections.
Accusing KCR of shattering the aspirations and hopes of people of Telangana from the new State, the TPCC Chief alleged that KCR and his family had lived a lavish lifestyle using public money.
“While poor people lived without a shelter, KCR constructed a palatial bungalow ‘Pragati Bhavan’ for himself on 9 acres of land by spending Rs. 500 crore of public money.
Many people lost their lives after they were forced to travel in old RTC buses. But KCR got a huge fleet of luxurious cars and a Rs. 7 crore Mercedez Benz bus for personal travel. KCR preferred to stay in his bullet-proof bathroom in Pragathi Bhavan than meeting common people in State Secretariat,”
he said while adding that KCR would be remembered in history for his lies, laziness and lethargic attitude towards people.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party was all set to come to power in next elections. He said a people’s manifesto was being prepared by the party to address the concerns of all sections of the society.
He said that next Congress Government would completely revive the farm sector by helping farmers at every step from procuring seeds to sale of their produce.
He said all farmers would be relieved from their debts up to Rs. 2 lakh under a crop loan waiver scheme to be implemented in a single take.
Besides the MSP, farmers would get Minimum Guaranteed Prices (MGP) for 17 major crops and a Rs. 5,000 crore Market Intervention Fund would be set up to ensure that entire produce by farmers is procured at MGP.
Congress Government would redefine the crop insurance by ensuring that farmers get adequate compensation for any loss they suffer due to natural calamities. Further, he said the crop insurance premium would be paid by the government.
The TPCC Chief said that the Congress Government would give top priority to creation of lakhs of jobs and it would pay Rs. 3,000 monthly allowance to 10 lakh jobless youth. Similarly, housing would be accorded top priority by constructing two lakh houses for poor every year.
The next Congress Government would give Rs. 5 lakh each to those who wish to construct their house on their own plots and an additional amount of Rs. 1 lakh would be given to SC and ST families.
He promised that the Aasra pension amount for all categories of beneficiaries would be doubled from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000 per month. The eligibility for Old Age Pension would be reduced to 58 years on par with State Government employees and parents of government staff would also get Old Age pension.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Public Distribution System would be streamlined wherein all poor Dalit and Girijans families would be given free ration. He said all ration card holders would be given 7 kg of fine rice per individual for Re. 1 per kg.
He said the old system of supply of essential commodities at subsidised rates at Fair Price shops would be restored. He said nine items including rice, wheat, flour, salt, sugar, palmoil, turmeric, tamarind and jaggery would be supplied again at Fair Price shops.
He also promised that the next Congress Government would give a grant of Rs. 1 lakh each to nearly 6 lakh Women SHGs in the State.
The TPCC Chief expressed confidence that people of Alampur would ensure the victory of A. Sampath Kumar with a majority of over 50,000 votes. Further, he said that the Congress party would win all 14 seats of undivided Mahabubnagar district.
Congress party senior leaders including S. Jaipal Reddy, K. Jana Reddy, Shabbir Ali, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Madhu Yashki Goud, A. Sampath Kumar, D.K. Aruna, Star Campaigner Vijaya Shanti, V. Hanumantha Rao and other leaders also spoke.
