Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao explain the sources of funding for the public meeting TRS proposes to hold on September 2.
“TRS will be spending more than Rs. 300 crore on the proposed public meeting. The Chief Minister must explain the sources from where TRS was mobilising funds,” he demanded while alleging that the entire money was the ill-gotten wealth which KCR family allegedly accumulated during the last four years through commission from contractors of different projects.
“Whatever money is being spent now by the TRS is actually public money which has been stolen from the exchequer through dubious means,” the TPCC Chief said in a media statement on Friday.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also urged the Income Tax Department and other authorities to track the spending as well as trace the origination of those funds. “This is pure black money which is being spent by the TRS.
The IT authorities should prepare a detailed log of money being spent by the TRS for the venue, transportation, food and other expenses. The actual figure of spending would be mind-boggling,” he said.
He also accused the Chief Minister of misusing the official machinery for his party’s public meeting. “All the RTC buses have been blocked for the day which would cause huge inconvenience to the common people. Even Telangana State Public Service Commission exams are being postponed in view of the meeting.
TRS did nothing for the people during the last four years and before making a final exit from power, it is causing huge inconvenience to the people,” he remarked.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRG Government did not fulfil a single major electoral promise and fearing severe backlash from the people, KCR was organising a public meeting to create a false impression about his performance. He said no tactic or stunt would work in favour of TRS as people have decided to bring Congress party to power in next elections.
“More than 4,000 farmers committed suicide during the last four years as they got no help from the State Government. Jobless youth faced only disappointment. Women got no importance in TRS regime and the first government of Telangana State would be remembered forever for not having a woman minister.
While betrayers of Telangana were rewarded with top posts, those who struggled for Telangana, especially students, were subjected to harassment and lathi-charge. The promise of 12% Reservation for Muslims and STs remained unfulfilled.
KG to PG free education proved to be a mirage and lakhs of students suffered due to non-implementation of Fee Reimbursement scheme. Not even 400 out of 1200 families of Telangana martyrs got the promised benefits. Dalits were subjected to harassment and injustice. BCs were not given their due share in power and resources,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said it would be appropriate if TRS public meeting is named “Praja Avedana Sabha” instead of ‘Pragathi Nivedika Sabha’. “KCR came to power by cheating the people with tall promises. He survived for four years on a bundle of lies and now he is preparing to go for next elections with a bunch of new lies.
Except for KCR family, no section of the society benefitted from Telangana State. There is nothing which can be called as achievement of TRS Government.
KCR has turned revenue surplus Telangana into a debt-ridden State. He constructed a palatial bungalow for his own family called ‘Pragathi Bhavan’ by spending over Rs. 500 crore from public exchequer. He had spent a lavish lifestyle using public money while poor people suffered, he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said KCR was not expected to speak anything other than lies in the proposed public meeting. He announced that the Congress party would expose the failures of KCR Government point-by-point.
