University governance expert Dr.  Sikandar joins MANUU as Registrar

Hyderabad:Dr M. A. Sikandar, a seasoned education-administrator, has joined Maulana Azad National Urdu University, as the new Registrar today (September 1).

He has taken over charge from Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Pro Vice-Chancellor, who was holding the office of the Registrar since February last year.

An Afro Asian Book Council awardee he is a known figure in the field of University Governance and publishing world for his contribution towards promotion of books in the country. Prior to joining MANUU, Dr. Sikandar has served as the Registrar of Ambedkar University Delhi.

Earlier, he has served as the Director, National Book Trust; Joint Registrar, University of Delhi and; National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) for about 15 years .

Dr Sikandar holds Master degrees in Labour Studies and Business Administration, a degree in Law and M. Phil and Ph.D. in Management. He has taught Business Administration and Commerce as Guest Faculty under Delhi University.

Dr. Sikandar has vast administrative experience.  He was member of various advisory committees constituted by the Ministry of HRD, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry Information and Broadcasting.

From 2011 to 2015 he was Member, Advisory Board of Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC), Singapore, representing India. Dr Sikandar was also the Fair Director of the New Delhi World Book Fair in his capacity as Director, NBT and successfully organized four World Book fairs.

He is the Honorary Chairperson of the Governing Body of Periyar Management and Computer College (PMCC), a Business School, affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, and Chairman of Vidyalaya Management Committee of Kendriya Vidayalaya (Central School) Sector-5, Dwarka, New Delhi.
