Dy CM reviews implementation of minorities’ welfare schemes

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, in a meeting at his chambers in Secretariat on Monday, reviewed the functioning of the Minorities Welfare Department and the Minorities Finance Corporation and the implementation of various schemes for welfare of minorities in Telangana State.

The agenda points included loans and subsidy Schemes, Training and Employment for the year 2014-15 to 2017-18, Distribution of Sewing Machines and Establishment of Computer Centres.

With regard to overseas scholarship scheme it was reported that the online receipt of the applications are in progress and will be accepted up to October 12.

The Deputy CM directed to extend the time for online receipt of applications up to October 31 so that the eligible candidates get sufficient time for preparing proper documentation of their applications.

With regard to the subsidised loan schemes majority of times it has been observed even after the approval of loan to beneficiaries after due diligence by the minority finance corporation, the banks are refusing to approve the same from their side citing various reasons.

The Deputy CM proposed providing 100% subsidy schemes without the need of beneficiaries needing to go to banks for consent, this will be done after apprising and taking due consent from Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao soon.

He also stressed that there should be periodic monitoring after release of loans to the beneficiaries so as to ensure that the sanctioned amount is utilized for the same purpose and by intended beneficiary him/herself only, and if any violations are observed then immediate action be taken to recover the entire sanctioned amount.

Mahmood Ali also directed the officials to see that the entire process of sanction of loan shall be competed with in one month. It was also decided that the old pending loan applications will be closed and action will be taken on new applications only.

Reviewing the MSDP scheme, the Deputy CM directed the officials to prepare a detailed report which could be be reviewed with the Collectors to whom the funds were released.

Earmarking of some percentage of funds for empowerment also came up for discussion on which the Deputy CM directed to make a detailed study and submit feasibility report.

For the computer training centres, the officials informed that 43 computer training centres have been working in the State and the working of these centres was not satisfactory. The Deputy CM directed to reduce the centres to 31 i.e., one per district and directed the officials to develop those centres.

The Minority Finance Corporation Chairman mentioned that recently sanction has been accorded for establishment of seven computer centres and within a few days computer training centre at Santoshnagar will become operational.

Mahmood Ali directed the officials to see that the sewing machines being provided by the corporation carries a logo of Telangana Government and the machines shall be allotted strictly as per eligibly by collecting all basic documents of the beneficiary.

With regard to sanctioning of staff to the Minorities Finance Corporation, the Deputy Chief Minister directed to submit proposals and after discussing the matter with the Chief Minister further necessary action will be taken.

Mahmood Ali instructed the officials to strive hard for implementation of minorities’ schemes and see that the schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries.
