Congress leaders meet DGP over Nalgonda murder

Hyderabad: Led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, a delegation of Congress leaders, met Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy on Saturday seeking action against those responsible for the murder of Boddupalli Srinivas, husband of Nalgonda Municipal Chairperson Laxmi who was killed two days ago.

Besides Uttam Kumar Reddy, MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Dr. J. Geetha Reddy, MLCs Rajagopal Reddy and Ponguleti Sudhakhar Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, ex-MPs V. Hanumantha Rao and Dr. Mallu Ravi, Dr. Sravan Dasoju, Gudur Narayan Reddy and other leaders were part of the delegation.

Speaking to media persons later, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that Srinivas was killed in a planned manner by the TRS workers. He said Srinivas had been expressing fear for his life over the last 4-5 months.

He said Srinivas, along with wife Laxmi, made representations with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, ministers, IG Intelligence, District Collector and SP seeking security. However, his pleas for security were ignored repeatedly which encouraged the killers to conspire his murder.

He said Laxmi had submitted the proof to Nalgonda police on the involvement of Nakrekal TRS MLA Veeresham and other ruling party workers. He said Veeresham had called Srinivas to Narketpalli Coffee Day about 2-3 months and ago and threatened to kill him if he does not join the TRS party.

He alleged that Veeresham has been allegedly spearheading criminal activities in entire Nalgonda while TRS workers are trying to terrorise opposition leaders using violence.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party strongly condemns violence and murder politics. He said that the DGP has been asked to take stern action against all those guilty of murder and its conspiracy. He said that the DGP has also been requested to enhance the security for Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkatreddy and ex-MLA Ch. Lingaiah Murthy.

The TPCC Chief said that the Congress party fought for country’s independence and granted statehood for Telangana. Therefore, its workers and leaders would not get intimidated with the violence of TRS leaders. He said that the Congress party would not allow the TRS to pursue murder politics in Telangana.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the DGP gave a patient hearing to the Congress leaders and assured to do justice. However, he said if the local police is unable to probe the case in a proper manner, then it should be handed over the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Meanwhile, Komatireddy Venkatreddy alleged that the murder of Srinivas was aimed at weakening him and demoralise the Congress cadre in Nalgonda. “I have been receiving several threatening calls from various unknown persons and numbers stating that they will eliminate me.

I strongly opine that there is a threat perception to me. If any untoward incident takes place against me, then ruling TRS Government is responsible,” he told DGP in a letter submitted today. He demanded 4+4 gunmen security, along with Bullet Proof Vehicle. (INN)
