Basthi Dawakhanas in GHMC to become functional from next month

Hyderabad: Health Minister Dr. Laxma Reddy informed the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Sunday that the State Government was planning to set up ‘Basthi Davakhanas’ in slum areas of Hyderabad city to bring medicare closer to the poor people.

Replying to a question raised by MLAs K.P. Vivekanand, G. Sayanna and Madhavaram Krishna Rao during Question Hour, the minister said that a total of 45 Basthi Dawakhanas are being proposed in GHMC limits to provide Primary Health Care services, particularly in slum areas. Of them, 17 Basthi Dawakhanas will start functioning from April 2018. The remaining will be established during the financial year 2018-19, he said. (INN)
