Harish Rao accuses Congress of dual standard on CAG

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has accused the Congress leaders of having a dual standard on the reports of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Harish Rao said that the Congress leaders had refused to accept the CAG reports when they were in power.

He said during the previous Congress regime, the then Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy had said that CAG reports were not holy like Bhagvad Gita, Bible or Quran and therefore, they won’t be trusted easily.

He said former Congress CM late Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had even said that the CAG had no right to criticse the decisions and policies of State Government. Similarly, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had pointed mistakes in the CAG report in the Parliament.

Harish Rao said that the Congress leaders have been trying to target TRS Government on the basis of CAG report. He said Congress has a different stand on CAG reports while in power and when out of power.

He said that the CAG has also appreciated some schemes of the TRS Government. But the Congress leaders are silent about them.

He said that the CAG reports were presented in a different manner in BJP and non-BJP ruled States. He said no objections were raised to the loans taken by BJP Governments while TRS Government has been criticised for its borrowings.

Harish Rao said that the bus yatra being taken out by the Congress party was aimed at having political gains and only to criticise TRS Government. (INN)
