Hyderabad: Chief Minsiter K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday formally launched the Rythu Bandhu scheme which provides investment support of Rs. 8,000 per acre per yer for two crop to farmers.
The Chief Minister handed over the cheque of Rs. 4,000 to B Sanjiva Reddy, a farmer of Dharmarajupalem, in a function held at at Dharmarajupalle-Indiranagar in Huzurabad constituency of the Karimnagar district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister informd that of 2.9 crore acres land in Telangana State, about 2.3 crore acres of land have been verified and around 1.4 crore acres of them have been identified as cultivable land.
He said irrespective of whether farmers take up cultivation or not, the government would issue cheques as well as passbooks to all 58 lakh eligible farmers for this season.
Stating that Telangana now has water, power and investment, he promised that the State Government would now fight with the Centre for Minimum Support Price for all crops.
KCR also informed that a new registration system would be implemented in Telangana from June 2. He said except for Sub-Registrar office, the MROs in 430 manals would be empowered to register lands.
He said registration documents and patta passbooks would be direct sent to the beneficiaries through post. He said presently one Agriculture Extension Officer has been deployed for 5,000 acreds of land.
The Chief Minister urged the bankers not to take patta passbooks as guarantee to issue crop loans. He also informed that farmers would be provided Rs. 5 lakh insurance from June 2 onwards.
KCR also charged the Congress party of creating obstructions in development of Telangana. He asked Congress leaders to explain as to why they were opposing Kaleshwaram project which could give a major boost to irrigation in many districts of Telangana.
He said Kaleshwaram project, after completion, could facilitate three crops in a year.
The programme was also attended by Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, MP Vinod Kumar and other senior officials.
Meanwhile, the distribution of cheques and passbooks was launched by people’s representatives and district officials across the Telangana State. Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy participated in a cheque distribution programme in Banswada of Kamareddy district. (INN)
