Hyderabad: The Germany based seed producers KWS team led by Satish Rai, Senior Manager, Business Development Technology, visited the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University(PJTSAU) here on Wednesday.
The team met Vice Chancellor Dr. V. Praveen Rao and other officials of PJTSAU. Addressing the meeting, Dr. Praveen Rao explained about the initiatives and achievements of PJTSAU in last three years. He also explained about the university’s mandate of teaching, research and extension activities.
He also highlighted about newly released crop varieties of PJTSAU after formation of university in 2014. Also he explained about the cropping patterns and status of agriculture in the newly formed Telangana State.
Dr. Rao requested the KWS representatives to extend their support to grow drought tolerant corn variety, tropical sugar bean, soya bean, mustard for enhancing the farmers’ income in the state.
Later, KWS Senior Manager gave the power presentation on their ongoing research activities based at Germany and 70 other countries in the world.
He stated that the KWS was the 4th largest seed producer company in the world. KWS has shown interest to extend support to PJTSAU in improving of high yielding varieties which suitable for tropical conditions. (INN)
