Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao held a review meeting on NSP and Dindi Lift irrigation schemes at his chambers in State Secretariat on Wednesday.
Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Miryalguda MLA Bhaskar Rao, Engineer-in-Chief Muralidhar and other senior officials were present in the review meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Harish Rao said nearly 8,000 acres would be irrigated from the package 8 and 9 of E. Madhava Reddy Project Distributory High Level Canal.
He said NSP and Akampalli Balancing Reservoir have been linked with 9.3 km canal to bring water to Kondapur reservoir. He said steps were being taken to bring water to Hyderabad from Kondapur reservoir.
Officials told the minister of a breach in canal due to continuous shifting of water. The water is also spilling on the attached road posing a major threat of accidents. Reacting on the report, the minister directed the officials to take measures to take up repairs to prevent damage to the road.
He also directed that the works on Dindi LIS be completed by October-November this year. (INN)
