Hyderabad: Legal Metrology Department made surprise checks on garments outlets in Greater Hyderabad region to safeguard consumer interests keeping in view for the upcoming Dassera festival.
As many as 15 teams headed by Assistant Controllers Bhaskar Reddy, Jaganmohan Reddy, Rajeswar Rao conducted raids on Saturday. On Violation of Legal Metrology Department Packaged Commodity Act 2011, 237 cases were booked on several outlets.
For all the transactions Legal Metrology Department introduced Cashless Enforcement last month and handed over Hand Held Enforcer machines to officials at ground level for transparency and accountability.
On Saturday, these Hand Held Enforcer machines were used for collecting penalty from violators.
They include Chandana Brother, Ameerpet-15, R.S. Brother, Kukatpally-14, Chennai Silks, Kukatpally-13, Vijay Textiles, Kukatpally-12, KLM Fashion, Dilsukhnagar-11, Reddy Brother, Dilsukhnagar-9, Chermas, Ameerpet-8, The Chennai Shopping Mall, Ameerpet-7, Anil Trading Center, A.S. Rao Nagar-7 and R.S. Brothers, ECIL-6.
