GHMC distributes wheel chairs among disable persons

Hyderabad: On the occasion of World’s Disabled Day, the Vikasam Wing, UCD GHMC organized a programme and distributed the wheel chairs to the people with Disabled at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said that the people who neglect the disabled persons are the real disabled persons. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was kind enough to sanction separate funds to the PWD.

Further, he said that the State Government was giving subsidy of Rs.25,000 for purchase of Battery Try-cycles which costs around 27,000/-. Even a PWD who come forward to farming, or like raising fruit trees, or any other business, the Government is ready to support him.

He said the government was providing every opportunity to the PWD to stand on his own and the aim of the Government is to the provide PWD a life with dignity and honour.

Welfare Minister Koppula Eeshwar said that around 15 GOs were released with regard to welfare schemes / development programmes for PWD which enhances the confidence thereby become successes in any field like, business, sports, arts and employment.

Addressing the gathering, GHMC Mayor Dr. B. Rammohan said that GHMC was making every possible activities / programmes to the PWD like a separate theme park to the PWD at Malakpet, and on the requests GHMC planning to provide such theme parks in other Zones.

He expressed happiness on the seeing the school children who come to the programme in solidarity to the PWD.

Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, Principal Secretary Jagadishwar, Addl. Commissioner Siktha Patnaik and other senior officials from UCD wing and others participated in the programme. (INN)
