Seeding through drones in Sircilla

Hyderabad: Haritha Haaram was celebrated in a novel manner at Veernapalli village in Sircilla Assembly constituency, represented by Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao, on Monday.

Marking the 66th birthday of Chief Minister, Mr K Chandrashekar Rao, and following a call given by KTR to celebrate the occasion by planting saplings and sowing seeds, seeding was done with the help of drones in the village. This is a first of its kind in the State.

Over 15,000 seeds were airdropped for sowing in Veernapalli. Marut Drones, a Hyderabad-based startup promoted by Prem Kumar Vislavath was engaged for the sowing. The box for releasing the seed balls was 3D-printed with the technology developed by T-Works, a Govt of Telangana incubator for Electronics startups. Activists of TRS from Sircilla Assembly constituency coordinated the activity with DFO Ms Asha, Forest Range Officer Mr Venugopal and others.

Former TESCOB chairman Konduru Ravidnder Rao, MPP Ms Malothu Bula and MPTC Santosh, ZPTC Member Gugulothu Kalavathi, Veernapalli sarpanch Madugula Mallesham, local leaders Thota Agaiah, Gugulothu Suresh, Chand Pasha (ZP cooption member) took the lead and organized the programme.

Taking cue from KCR’s call that afforestation has to be taken up on a largescale in barren lands and around forest areas, the TRS activists from Sircilla sought to sow the seeds in open areas, marking Haritha Haaram.

TRS workers and students of a few schools in and around the village enthusiastically participated in mixing of the seed, Jeevamrutham (an organic fertilizer) and soil to make the seed balls. Prem Kumar said that he had given the specifications of diameter and size of the seed balls for the drones to hold them and drop them at designated places.

In fact, Marut Drones has been working on mosquito eradication and diversified into sowing of seeds with the help of drones to ensure coverage in large areas. Velaga, Gangaravi, Gummadi Teak, Seema Chinta, Raavi, and Sitaphal were the seeds sown on Monday.

Minister KTR complimented the novel efforts. (INN)
