Police arrests OU student for suspected links with Maoist

Hyderabad: Warangal police arrested a student of Osmania University campus suspecting his connection with Maoists. Azad is the secretary of Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV). Police has shifted Azad to Warangal.

Azad hails from Mulugu Mandal in Warangal district and is a student of MA (Philosophy) in OU campus. Earlier police arrested Raju and Chiranjeevi in Kakatiya University campus for their Maoist activities.

Based on the information given by the two arrested suspected Maoists, police came to know of Azad Yadav.

It’s further learnt that Azad is also wanted by the police in two other cases. One was registered in September 2015 in connection with burning of poclain in Mulugu.

The second was booked nearly three months ago when another poclain was set afire again in Mulugu. Azad was identified as the third accused in the case and picked up on a tip-off that he was taking shelter there.

Meanwhile, mild tension prevailed near OU police station when a group of students belonging to TVV staged a demonstration protesting the ‘arrest’ of Azad. TVV has urged the Telangana Government to immediately release Azad. (INN)
