Krishna Pushkaralu to start on August 12 in Telangana

Hyderabad: Krishna Pushkaralu will begin in Telangana on August 12, informed the Commissioner of Endowments. A majority of the pandits are of the view that August 12 is the date for the start of the Pushkarams.

The Pushkaralu are observed for a period of 12 days from the time of entry of Jupiter into Virgo. Krishna Pushkaralu has been an age-old practice in southern states, especially Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.

Earlier, Home Minister N. Narsimha Reddy and DGP Anurag Sharma conducted an aerial survey of the Krishna Ghats and reviewed the arrangements with the officials later.

They planted a sapling on the premises of State Guest House at Gadwal. Minister Jupally Krishna Rao also inspected the Pushkaralu works and urged the officials to ensure the works are completed in time.

Meanwhile, the state government has released orders sanctioning Rs 80 lakh towards cultural programs to be held during the Kirshna Pushkaralu. (INN)
