IMC, MANUU’s film “Mirza Ghalib” wins Global Award

Hyderabad: Instructional Media Centre (IMC) of Maulana Azad National Urdu University(MANUU) has made a history on Wednesday by sharing the top honour at the first ever International Culture Cinema Festival-2021 jointly organized by UNESCO, New Delhi, JLF LitFest and CIFEJ.

The film “Nawa-e-Sarosh – Mirza Ghalib” (Mirza Ghalib – Voice of Angel) directed by Dr. Mir Hashmath Ali has bagged best film award in Literature category titled “best in literature” films.

This film was one amongst IMC’s nine other short films and documentaries selected for official screening in competitive categories of festival. A total of 74 films from 21 countries are being screened, of which 42 movies were in the competition.

Being an international festival, films across the Globe were participating and IMC films selection for screening and winning an award is a huge honour and recognition not only for the centre but for the university and the Country at global level.

 The festival commenced on July 17 and online screening will continue till August 16.

Sharing a great moment, Mr Rizwan Ahamd, Director, Center informed that  it was 2 years ago that IMC introduced the world to the MANUU Knowledge Series and these efforts have finally paid off.

This monumental achievement will push the entire team to work hard and establish Centre & MANUU with a proper global footprint, he hoped.

He further stated that, though IMC has been recognised at various national & international platforms during last four years but bagging an award is a big achievement.

He congratulated the director of the winning film and the entire team & informed that IMC will be launching more creative concepts this year.

On the occasion, Prof. S.M. Rahmatullah, Vice- Chancellor I/c &  Prof. Siddique Mohammad Mahmood, Registrar I/c congratulated IMC for this global recognition.
