CM KCR reviews Corona situation with ministers, top officials

Hyderabad: As Corona’s new variant is spreading all over the world, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has reiterated that people should be on alert, take self-regulatory measures, follow the government guidelines and they should not entertain any fear or anxiety over the variant.

The CM held a review meeting on Sunday at Pragathi Bhavan here on Corona’s situation in the state and the alertness of the Medical and Health department. He also held a review of the R&B, Irrigation departments about the progress of works made in the respective departments.

In the review meeting, Medical and Health Minister T Harish Rao, R&B Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, MLC Venkatram Reddy, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Special Chief Secretaries Ramakrishna Rao and Rajath Kumar, Medical and Health Secretary SAM Rizvi, CMO Officials Smita Sabharwal, Rajasekhar Reddy, Medical and Health officials Srinivas Rao, Gangadhar, Chandrasekhar Reddy, R&B Officials E-in-C Ganapati Reddy, Government’s Advisor Suddala Sudhakar Teja, Irrigation officials E-in-C Muralidhar, Hariram, CM OSD Sridhar Rao Deshpande, SE Koteswar Rao and others participated.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that people should not entertain any fear about Corona. However, people should wear masks, do sanitation, maintain physical distance and other such self-regulations should be followed. He said everyone should take the vaccine. As of date vaccination programme is taking place for those in the age group of 15 to 18 years. From Monday onwards, the third dose (Booster Dose) will be given to the frontline workers, people above 60 years of age, Health care workers. He said all those who are eligible should get vaccinated. In case of symptoms, people should go to the nearby government hospital and get the treatment done. He appealed to people not to move in groups especially during the Sankranthi festival and try to remain in their homes celebrate taking precautions.

The CM reiterated that the state government is ready to face any situation and is equipped to face Corona. The CM inquired with the medical and health department higher officials about the Corona situation as well as the medical and health situation in the state. The officials submitted a report to the CM on the measures taken following CM’s instructions in the last review meeting. The officials explained to the CM that adequate Oxygen beds, medicines and other requirements are available.

New Secretariat works should continue parallelly: CM

The CM held a review meeting on the progress of works of the new Secretariat Building Complex, which is almost ready, and on the verge of completion.

The CM instructed R&B Minister Prashanth Reddy to speed up important works and parallelly the works on landscaping, security system and other building works should also be speeded up.  Since the new Secretariat is going to have a strong and foolproof security system, he instructed the officials to consult DGP M Mahender Reddy and take measures. He also wanted works on the State-of-the-art Police Command Control Building meant for 24-hour vigilance should be expedited.

CM reviews the progress of the irrigation projects

The CM also reviewed the progress of works of irrigation projects in the state. The CM issued several instructions and gave suggestions to the Irrigation department officials in this regard.

The CM inquired about the progress of permissions of the Detailed Project Reports (DPR) of the projects on the Godavari River. The CM instructed the officials to prepare all the information and Data as sought by the Central Water Commission and get the permissions as early as possible.

The CM is upset that though the DPRs of Sitarama, Sammakka Sagar, Mukteswara (Chinna Kaleswaram) Lift Irrigation, Chenaka Korata Barrage, Choutupalli Hanmanth Reddy Lift Irrigation, Medi Kunta projects were submitted 5 months ago, the Central Water Commission had not given the permissions yet. The CM instructed the irrigation officials to prepare the DPR of Dr. BR Ambedkar Pranahita Project and send the same to Central Water Commission and to the Godavari Board. The CM instructed the officials to be in regular touch with the Godavari Board officials, prepare proposals to remove 5 Godavari projects from the Gazette Notification and send them to the Central Water Commission. The CM also instructed the officials to take measures to invite tenders for the important projects this year.

The CM instructed the irrigation officials to invite tenders for Lift schemes proposed on the Nagarjuna Sagar left Canal, Gattu Lift Irrigation Scheme, the balance works of the Kaleswaram projects in Kamareddy and Yellareddy Constituencies, balance works of Palamuru Rangareddy in Rangareddy and Vikarabad districts, Barrage works of BR Ambedkar Pranahita project, Chennuru Lift Irrigation scheme, Kupti project proposed on Kadem river.

The CM made it clear that by completing all these projects, the important projects as proposed by the state Irrigation department will be completed and the state government would reach its goals in the irrigation sector. (INN)
