NABARD to fund irrigation project in TS

Hyderabad: The Centre on Tuesday agreed to complete 99 pending projects in the country, including 11 projects in Telangana State.

At a crucial meeting at New Delhi chaired by Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharathi, NABARD chief, National Water Development Authority Secretary Sashi Shekhar have signed a MoU attended by NITI Ayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagaria,

coordination committee member and Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao among others.

As per the agreement, NABARD will finance the projects in coordination with the Centre and States.

It was planned to complete 23 projects in 2061-17 as the first priority, 31 projects in 2017-18 as the second priority and 45 projects in 2019 as the third priority.

The projects include 11 projects in Telangana State, including Devadula and others.

Irrigation Minister Harish Rao said the deal was a historic one for the Telangana state as it will help irrigate 75 lakh acres through the completion of 11 projects in the state. (INN)
