Harish Rao demands Rs. 5,000 Cr Central funds for Mission Kakatiya

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao called on Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharathi in New Delhi on Tuesday and demanded Rs. 5,000 crore financial assistance for Mission Kakatiya.

Accompanied with Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Harish Rao held detailed discussions on Pradhan Mantri Krishi Seenchai Yojna and IBP projects.

The minister is also a member of Sub-Committee supervising these projects. Under these schemes, 99 projects are proposed to be completed. Of them, 32 are expected to be completed by March next year.

Harish Rao demanded increase in funds by 60% for Devadula Project while he asked for Rs. 600 crore for completion of pending irrigation projects in the State.

He also requested the Union Minister to increase the borrowing limits for Telangana for NABARD loans.

Uma Bharati has assured to take up the matter with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Harish Rao also informed the Union Minister that Cabinet Sub-Committee was meeting on October 29 to discuss the implications of verdict of Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on distribution of Krishna River Water.

He said he would apprise the Union Minister about the decisions to be taken by the Cabinet Sub-Committee. (INN)
