BC Commission chief, members sworn in

Hyderabad: Chairman and the members of the Telangana Backward Commission were sworn in at a programme at Ravindra Bharati on Thursday.

The commission would be headed B S Ramulu while Vakulabharanam Krishnamohan, Anjaneya Goud and writer Juluri Gowrisankar are its members. Minister Etela Rajendar, Jogu Ramanna, MP Balka Suman and other leaders from the ruling party were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Etela Rajendar said that there was a need to make the society caste free and the state government was making efforts in this direction.

He said that the Chief Minister has taken a historic step by constituting a BC Commission for the welfare of the backward and the marginalized sections of the society.

He appealed the members of the BC Commission to look into the various issues concerning the marginalized sections and analysis them and suggest measures to solve those issues. He also appealed the Commission to give the exact statistics related to the BCs to the government.

The minister said that the state government has launched BC residential schools to impart quality education to the students hailing from backward classes.

He said that the benefits under Kalyana Lakshmi have also been extended to the BCs.

BC Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna said that the constitution of BC Commission was a major mile stone in the history of development of the BCs.

He said that the state government was working for the welfare of the members of BC communities who constitute more than half the state population. (INN)
