Farmers’ issues: TRS accuses Opposition of adopting double standards

Hyderabad: TRS on Saturday said that the Opposition parties were organizing rallies and padayatra in the name of farmers’ welfare only to gain political mileage.

Speaking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, TRS MLCs K Prabhakar and P Rajeshwar Reddy slammed the TD leader A Revanth Reddy saying that his Rythu Poru Yatra was only to gain political mileage and this will not benefit the farmers in any way.

The TRS leaders said that despite being in power in the state for nine years, TD did nothing for the welfare of the farmers.

Accusing the TD of adopting double standards on farmers issues, Prabhakar said that on one the TD was opposing the redesigning of irrigation of projects taken up by the government saying that it was anti-farmer drive and on the other,

the TD government in AP acquired over 30,000 acres of land yielding three crops a year in the name of capital construction.

He said that the TD government was encouraging real estate business in AP capital region by acquiring agriculture lands.

The TRS MLC said that the over 15,000 farmers committed suicides during the TD rule and government failed to provide any relief to the farmers then.

The TRS leaders also alleged that it was TD’s mis-governance that farmers in Telangana had to suffer for so long.

The TRS MLCs alleged that the Opposition leaders were making all efforts to create hurdles in the development.

Every initiative taken up by the TRS government is being opposed which shows the intention of the Opposition that is- to stall development, TRS MLC remarked.

He said that the people are well aware of the facts and will not buy the misinformation campaign against the state government. (INN)
