Political parties back reservation for Muslims in Telangana

Muslim individuals and various socio-political organizations came forward to support the proposed 12% reservation to the Muslim community in Telangana.

Political parties such as Congress, AIMIM, TDP, TRS, and WPI submitted their representation to Telangana State Commission for Backward Classes (TSCBC), which conducted public hearing on enhancement of reservations for backward classes among Muslims.

Citing the report prepared by Sudir Commission, they requested the TSCBC Chairman B.S. Ramulu to come up with a report favoring reservation for Muslims which could withstand legal scrutiny in a court of law.

Speaking to Hyderabad Youth Mirror, WPI state secretary Mohammed Waseem said that their demand is for justice to backward communities within the Muslim community.

“Muslims must get reservation in central and state employment,” he said while adding that “stretching reservation to corporate and private sector would help in faster development of the Muslim community.”
