Congress demands CBI probe into Eamcet question paper leak

Hyderabad: The Congress party on Monday demanded the State Government to hand over the case of Eamcet question paper leak to CBI or get it investigated through a sitting Judge of High Court.

Speaking on the issue in Legislative Council, Leader of Opposition Shabbir Ali accused the government of going slow on the case and protecting the real culprits behind the paper leak case.

Stating that the question paper leak had spoiled the future of thousands of students, Mr Shabir Ali demanded the government to strictly punish all those involved in the case.

Replying to the Oppositions charges, Deputy CM and Minister for Education Kadiyam Srihari said that the State Government had handed the case to the CID immediately after it was proved in the preliminary inquiry about the paper leakage.

He said that the CID had arrested 49 persons in the case and seized Rs 2.80 crore in cash from them. He said that some more accused were absconding and efforts are on to arrest them.

The Deputy CM rebuked the Opposition allegations that the government was protecting accused.

He said that in the previous governments too question papers were leaked in 2010 and 2012 and then government did not act against the guilty.

He said that those involved in this year’s question paper leak were found to be involved in indulging in the same act earlier also.

Had then government acted against the guilty, the question paper leak would not have happened, the Deputy CM added. (INN)
