Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has claimed that the Mission Kakatiya has resulted in groundwater levels going up by almost 15 Metres across the Telangana State.
Speaking on the occasion of silver jubilee celebrations of Bala Vikas in Qazipet of Warangal district on Friday, Harish Rao said that the Mission Kakatiya was being implemented successfully across Telangana. He said a target of reviving 45,000 lakes and tanks is being pursued as part of Mission Kakatiya.
He said almost all lakes were filled to the brim during the last monsoon and it led to increase in the ground water levels.
He said that the Mission Kakatiya would be fully implemented by the year 2018 and about Rs. 27,000 crore were being on it.
Harish Rao said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has not only promised to supply tapped drinking water to all household but also challenged that he would seek votes in next elections if he fails to fulfill this assurance.
He said only KCR had the capability to make such a promise and he also has the ability to fulfill it.
The minister praised Bala Vikas organisation for setting up a water plant. He said so far the organisation has set up 710 water plans. He assured the NGO that the government would provide required land and financial assistance for construction of building for water treatment plants.
Harish Rao also said that the government was taking all measures to address water scarcity in Warangal town and arrangements were being made to supply 10 TMC of water. He said cleaning up of canals would be taken up as part of second phase of SRSP. (INN)
